Every once in a while, we get a call from a client who is wanting to do something a little different (which we love!) Charlie was one of those clients. Instead of using a traditional wooden barn door, Charlie opted for Shoji Paper Screen doors, paired with our QG Top Mount hardware and the results are breathtaking! 
​WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO ADD A SLIDING DOOR TO YOUR HOME?
Our home is 78 square metres. Finding room for furniture and appliances is tricky, every inch of floorspace counts. 
WHAT WAS THE MAIN REASON YOU CHOOSE SHOJI PAPER SCREENS, RATHER THAN A MORE COMMON WOODEN DOOR?
Three barn doors all facing each other would make the space feel tight. It still would have worked but the visible weight of the doors would make them seem a bit much... weight can be like that... visible mass. Also, with rice paper letting lots of light through, the space seems a lot airier.
YOU DECIDED ON THE QUIET GLIDE TOP MOUNTS. WAS THERE SOMETHING IN PARTICULAR YOU LIKE ABOUT THE DESIGN? OR, WAS THE DECISION MADE FOR MORE PRACTICAL REASONS?
Both. Firstly, whereas barn doors would suit straps - some of the heavier ones would probably need that kind of extra fitting strength - the lighter weight of shoji doors meant top mounts were applicable. Secondly was simplicity, again, not having any more visible nuts or bolts than necessary. Also, the overall look and feel of the top mounting was free and open, we liked actually seeing as much of the wheels rolling as possible.
​HOW DID YOU FIND THE INSTALALTION OF THE RHP HARDWARE? WAS THE INSTALLATION GUIDE HELPFUL?
I studied the specs carefully. Everything I needed to know was there.
ANY TIPS OR TRICKS YOU WOULD RECOMMEND TO OTHERS WANTING TO COMPLETE A SIMILAR PROJECT?
The very last thing when installing the rails, including after putting the mounts on the doors, should be drilling the holes in the rail for the final closed and open position stoppers. These are two of the most vital measurements ad hard to get exact in theory. Drill these and fix the stoppers when the rail is actually on the wall.
ANY OTHER FEEDBACK OR THOUGHTS, ON YOUR OVERALL EXPERIENCE WITH RHP AND THEIR PRODUCTS?
Clearly the New Zealand distributors are proud of their product and happy to oblige. We'd heard the products of competitors were problematic and liked the assurance of knowing our hardware was American. If we were buying a plastic product it wouldn't matter, but when buying metal it's best to have reliable raw material.
